“Arts in Focus” is a fictional Manitoban arts and culture magazine focusing on Canadian contemporary art. As part of our final work placement, students were asked to created a rebrand for the fictional publication.
For this mock branding project I created a custom logotype making use of the acronym form of the publication name. When doing my style research, I was inspired by modern typographic styles, and magazine layouts. I decided strong sans serif type families such as “All Round Gothic” and “Rhode” would be excellent jumping off points. By using the ever recognizable, “Helvetica Neue” type family for my secondary information, the copy is easily readable and stylistically similar to the logotype.
With its image heave layout and minimal typographic elements, the "Aif" cover design brings focus to whats really important, the art featured.
